Nicholas Bubb, Sheboygan North High School Nick has a great ability to use failure as a spring board to success. When he has failed to achieve a goal he quickly refocuses his energies, develops new strategies and sets new goals. As a freshman, he was in demonstration speaking and had limited success. The next year he came back trying a new category and becoming one of the anchors of the team. Last year he was a good bet to qualify for nationals and when missing his goal, he was able to support his teammates and grow from this very difficult experience. It was a great example of his character.
He has been an important leader at North High. He was instrumental in developing a student Senate to represent the interest of students. He has been a member of student council and a vocal leader of the forensics team. He seeks out responsibilities and is very dependable in completing assigned tasks. The forensics team is much stronger because of his dedicated and thoughtful leadership.

Rachel Forbes, Brookfield East High School Rachel has been on the Forensics Team all four years of her high school education at Brookfield East. She has competed in Four Minute Speech, Public Address, and for the past two seasons has risen to the top of Original Oratory through hard work and constant practice. While the many trophies and honors she has received bear testament to her success, it is her steady and unwavering drive toward making even a very good performance better that, in my opinion, reveal her true ability.
Rachel is one of our hardest workers at practice -- a skill I have seen carry through all of her academic course work. She is an excellent researcher, and works far beyond the point where others would be satisfied. Her drive comes from within, not just from the expectations of those around her.
Rachel was elected by her peers to serve as a team officer, not only because of her ability to get things done, but also because of her enthusiasm about the activities in which she invests her time. Rachel never gives less than her best effort. That effort, combined with her Superior intellectual ability, is exactly what will propel her to success in the future.

Marie Chelmo Memorial ScholarshipTessa Bysong, Durand High School I have coached Tessa in Forensics throughout high school. Her outstanding commitment and innate talent in this activity have paid off with much success. She has received many awards competing throughout Wisconsin and was a state champion in Four-minute her sophomore year and a runner-up in Public Address last year. Becoming a state champion is a goal very few students in the state ever attain, but to be able to do this as a sophomore in high school is almost unparalleled.
Tessa also possesses many other admirable qualities. She has a positive attitude about school, her future, and life in general. She tries to make things better. She strives to always improve herself as well as situations around her. She is honest and will always show a great deal of integrity in her life. She has very clear ideals and leads her life with them in mind at all times.
I sincerely feel honored to have had the pleasure to meet, teach, and coach her throughout high school. I know if I had a scholarship to give away, I would not hesitate in recognizing Tessa's great potential for success.

Ron Steinhorst ScholarshipFrank Korf, Waupaca High School Frank is a talented young man. When, as a freshman, he won the first tournament he ever participated in, I turned to his father who had come to watch and said, " It usually doesn't happen this way." Usually, no, but Frank is unique. Highly creative yet extremely logical, Frank is an unusual combination. He is the orating solo humorous actor and art club president who loves working on computers and excels in math. He exercises both sides of his brain.
I feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Frank. He has taken the opportunities offered by WCFA and maximized their benefits. The WFCA Scholarship has always rewarded students who have contributed to and received from the enrichment of forensics. When looking for a student who exemplifies all we, as coaches, would hope for, it would be hard to overlook Frank. He truly exemplifies our motto: "Coaches and students building a better world through communication."
